On with the Meet

Vooruit met de Meet

Following the recent integration with Teams, Google Meet has launched a few more updates. Read on!

  • Real-time translations are now also available on your mobile device. Currently, these are only available for English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian.

  • Google Meet available as app in CarPlay

Professionals on the go can now stay connected hands-free and safely join meetings via Apple CarPlay. (Android Auto users can expect a version soon.) With this update, users can now access Google Meet directly from their car's dashboard. You can join meetings, view your calendar and participate in audio calls with a single tap, allowing you to stay focused on driving.

Please note that when you join a meeting, your camera will be turned off and you will not see incoming video. This ensures safety for everyone!

  • Book your meeting room or other resources with third party apps

Organizations that use both Google Workspace and other calendaring systems can now more easily coordinate (in beta) shared resources, such as rooms, projectors, or company cars.

Admins can grant specific non-Google users or entire non-Google domains permission to book Workspace resources. Once these permissions are configured, they can reserve a resource by simply adding its email address to the calendar event guest list. If the resource is configured to auto-reply, it automatically accepts or declines the invitation based on its availability and sends a notification to the organizer.

  • Meeting recordings now available to all participants by default

As of April 30, 2026, the default setting for Google Meet recordings will change. From that date, owners of recordings will need to manually restrict this setting if they do not want viewers to be able to download or copy them. This change only applies to future recordings and will not affect existing files.

If you wish to keep downloads disabled by default, you must disable the "Allow users to download and copy recordings" option in the Admin Console (or have it disabled) before April 30, 2026. Please feel free to contact us if you need help or further explanation!
