Hop ahead with JumpCloud

Spring verder met JumpCloud

You may or may not know, but Google Workspace has recently officially partnered with JumpCloud for identity, device, and access management.

The collaboration with this recommended partner was further deepened with the launch of the "Work Transformation Set". This is a joint product offering that combines Google Workspace's AI-powered productivity tools with JumpCloud's identity and access management solutions.

The common goal is to simplify Identity and Access Management (IAM) for organizations, giving IT administrators central management of users and devices across disparate IT resources.

Key features of the integration

  • User Sync (Directory Sync): Two-way synchronization of user accounts and attributes (e.g., names, email addresses) occurs between JumpCloud and Google Workspace. This allows accounts to be automatically created, updated, or suspended in Google Workspace based on changes in JumpCloud, or vice versa. Simplified onboarding and offboarding means that new users are automatically created and configured in Google Workspace when they are added to JumpCloud. Upon departure, accounts are suspended/deleted quickly and efficiently.

  • Single Sign-On (SSO): JumpCloud can be configured as the Identity Provider (IdP) for Google Workspace via SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language). This allows users to access all Google Workspace services (Gmail, Drive, etc.) with a single set of credentials. This logically simplifies the login experience and increases security.

  • Password Management: JumpCloud can take over password authority for Google Workspace users, ensuring a unified and secure password strategy, including password expiration and account lockout settings.

  • Group Management: Admins can manage distribution groups and their memberships in Google Workspace directly from the JumpCloud Admin Portal, often automated using dynamic groups.

  • Device Management (Conditional Access): Combined with device management features (for macOS, Windows, and Linux), you can implement Conditional Access Policies. This ensures that only managed and compliant devices can access Google Workspace resources, strengthening overall security.

Recommended!

This overall improved security (through the use of SSO, JumpCloud's integrated Multi-Factor Authentication, and policies) naturally makes your Google Workspace more uniform and secure across the board.

What's more, it means less administration and overhead for everyone. Centralized user identity management reduces the need to manually implement changes in multiple systems. So it's not only smarter, but also faster!

In short, JumpCloud extends the functionality of Google Workspace by adding a robust security layer that spans all of an organization's devices, users, applications, and networks. So jump in!
